The squares were sheared ¾ inch by ¾ inch from 18 gauge (1mm thick) sterling silver and joined to pure sterling silver torpedo style links using sterling silver solder and an acetylene torch. While the temptation may exist to use glue and thinner gauge sterling silver such as 20 or 22 gauge to lower production costs, the 18 gauge sterling silver does not dent or bend when hammering a large metal stamp such as the monogram and soldered joints are far superior to consumer grade resins for joining metals. A black patina darkens the monogram for maximum legibility and contrast against the shine of polished sterling silver. The cuff links are both tumbled and hand polished to insure a quality finish.
