Sea turtle necklace with hibiscus flower in sterling silver

Emitting rays of silver, peace, and love, this handmade sea turtle pendant was created to bring inner harmony and safe passage over stormy seas, while a shadowbox technique adds perfectly blended dimension and artistic focus to the stylized sea turtle.

In the center of the sea turtle that was first sawed by hand from 20 gauge sterling silver with a jewelry saw, a Hibiscus flower was cut out using a pierce and cut technique, before soldering the turtle to a 1.125 inch 20 gauge sterling silver backing disc. Joined asymmetrically to a second 1.25 inch back disc for a more massive appearance and feel, the design was completed with chased dimples that represent ocean bubbles along with a grooved pattern bow side to capture the energy and thrill of a sea turtle peacefully in motion. The pewter black patina in the hibiscus flower, grooves, and outline of the turtle, produces contrast against the radiance of brushed metal to enrich the triple pendant with shadow and shading.

The pendant comes with your choice of a stainless steel ball chain, black leather cord tied in a southwestern style with slip knots, or a sterling silver link chain. For everyday wear or while surfing, sailing, or rough it up in a game of beach volley ball, I would definitely recommend the stainless steel chain or black leather cord. Your pendant can be personalized with a name, date, or short saying on the backside.
